Voor de veiligheidsinstructie in een vliegtuig wordt doorgaans onderstaande tekst gebruikt.

Goedemorgen/-middag/-avond dames en heren. Mijn naam is ### en ik vandaag uw purser op vlucht ### naar ### (en ###). Namens ###, gezagvoerder ### en zijn/haar bemanning heet ik u van harte welkom aan boord in deze ### ###. De verwachte vluchtduur bedraagt ### uur en ### minuten.

VEILIGHEIDSINSTRUCTIES

Ik maak u erop attent dat roken tijdens deze vlucht niet is toegestaan. Uw handbagage dient opgeborgen te zijn in de bagagevakken boven uw hoofd of onder de stoel voor u, zodat het gangpad en de uitgangen niet worden geblokkeerd. Het gebruik van elektronische apparatuur is niet toegestaan zolang de verlichting van het teken stoelriemen vast aan is en op verzoek van de cabinebemanning. Gebruik van elektronische apparatuur welke een signaal zendt of ontvangt, zoals bijvoorbeeld uw mobiele telefoon, is in het geheel niet toegestaan. Mobiele telefoons dienen vanaf nu uitgeschakeld te zijn, inclusief de flight mode.

Wilt u de stoelriem vastmaken, het tafeltje voor u inklappen en de rugleuning van uw stoel rechtop zetten. Dan vraag ik nu graag uw aandacht voor de veiligheidsinstructies/filmpje. Mocht u na afloop hiervan nog vragen hebben, dan beantwoorden wij die graag. Ik wens u namens de gehele bemanning een prettige vlucht toe.

STOELRIEM

Wanneer het teken riemen vast is verlicht, moet u uw gordel om doen. Plaats de metalen fittingen in elkaar, en trek aan het losse uiteinde van de riem om hem strakker te maken. Om uw gordel los te maken, til het bovenste gedeelte van de gesp op. We raden u aan om uw gordel om te houden tijdens de vlucht.

ZUURSTOF

Gedurende deze vlucht bevinden wij ons in een drukcabine. Wanneer de luchtdruk wegvalt, komen er uit de luikjes boven u zuurstofmaskers tevoorschijn. Ga dan onmiddellijk zitten. Trek één van de maskers naar u toe, plaats het masker over neus en mond, bevestig de hoofdband en adem normaal. Als u met kinderen of met iemand die hulp nodig heeft reist, zet dan eerst zelf een masker op zodat u daarna het andere persoon kunt helpen.

NOODUITGANGEN

Dit vliegtuig heeft 2/4/6/8/10 nooduitgangen. Dit zijn: 2 deuren voor in de cabine,

2/4 luiken boven de vleugels, 2 deuren in het midden van het toestel en 2 deuren achter in de cabine. U kunt de uitgangen ook vinden met behulp van de vloerverlichting. Deze bevindt zich aan de rechter-/linkerkant / beide zijden van het gangpad. Een rode streep of het einde van een groene streep geeft aan dat u zich bij een uitgang bevindt. Alle uitgangen kunt u ook herkennen aan de bordjes EXIT. Bij de deuren klinkt tevens een geluidsignaal.

ZWEMVEST

Het zwemvest bevindt zich in een pakje onder uw stoel. Haal het pakje tevoorschijn, door aan de rode strip te trekken, neem het zwemvest eruit en ontvouwt het.

Steek het door uw hoofd door de halsopening, bevestig de band via de rug aan de clip aan de voorzijde en trek de band aan. Blaas het zwemvest op door een ruk te geven aan het rode label onderaan. Dit mag u pas doen bij het verlaten van het vliegtuig! U kan het eventueel bijvullen door in het rode pijpje te blazen. Op één van de schouders bevindt zich een lampje dat gaat branden zodra de batterij in aanraking komt met water. U kunt het lampje op stand-by zetten door aan het witte label te trekken. Ook bevind zich een fluitje om de aandacht te trekken.

VEILIGHEIDSKAART

Tenslotte vindt u een kaart met uitgebreide veiligheidsinstructies in de stoel zak voor u. Wij verzoeken u deze kaart voor de start zorgvuldig te bestuderen en nogmaals te kijken waar de voor u dichtstbijzijnde uitgangen zich bevinden.

VERLICHTING

Vanwege standaard veiligheidsvoorschriften dimmen wij de cabineverlichting tijdens de start en landing. Er bevindt zich een leeslampje in het paneel boven uw hoofd. Dames en heren, ik dank u voor uw aandacht en namens de gehele bemanning wens ik u een prettige vlucht.

NA OPSTIJGEN

Dames en heren, de gezagvoerder heeft het teken riemen vast uitgeschakeld, u kunt nu vrij bewegen door cabine. We raden altijd aan om uw gordel om te houden terwijl u zit. U kunt nu elektronische apparaten zoals laptops, mp-3 spelers en computerspelletjes gebruiken of via uw beeldscherm gaan naar het entertainment menu. Over enkele ogenblikken zal de cabine bemanning langs komen met warme en koude dranken, evenals ontbijt / diner / avondeten / een lichte maaltijd / een snack. Ook (licht) alcoholische dranken zijn beschikbaar.

TURBULENTIE

Dames en heren, de gezagvoerder heeft het teken riemen vast ingeschakeld. We vliegen nu door een zone met turbulentie. Wilt u gaan zitten en uw stoelriem vast maken? Dank u wel.

BIJNA BIJ BESTEMMING AANGEKOMEN

Dames en heren, we zijn aan de afdaling begonnen, wilt u ervoor zorgen dat uw stoelriem vast zit, de rugleuning rechtop staat en uw tafeltje ingeklapt is. Wilt u nu ook alle elektronische apparaten uitschakelen totdat u weer in de aankomsthal bent? Dank u wel!

(then continuing on to ???). Our flight time will be of ??? hours and ??? minutes. We will be flying at an altitude of ??? feet/meters at a ground speed of ??? miles per hour/kilometers per hour. At this time, make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position. Also make sure your seat belt is correctly fastened. When the door is closed and the aircraft is about to pushback, the Captain or the Chief flight attendant will make an announcement intended to the flight attendants. “Flight attendants/Cabin Crew, please prepare for gate departure.”

Safety demonstration

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to direct your attention to the television monitors. We will be showing our safety demonstration and would like the next few minutes of your complete attention.

If there is no video system and the flight attendants do the demonstration themselves in the aisles, the announcement might be as follows.

Now we request your full attention as the flight attendants demonstrate the safety features of this aircraft. When the seat belt sign illuminates, you must fasten your seat belt. Insert the metal fittings one into the other, and tighten by pulling on the loose end of the strap. To release your seat belt, lift the upper portion of the buckle. We suggest that you keep your seat belt fastened throughout the flight, as we may experience turbulence. There are several emergency exits on this aircraft (??? forward, ??? aft, and ??? over each wing.) Please take a few moments now to locate your nearest exit. In some cases, your nearest exit may be behind you. If we need to evacuate the aircraft, floor-level lighting will guide you towards the exit. Doors can be opened by moving the handle in the direction of the arrow. Each door is equipped with an inflatable slide which may also be detached and used as a life raft.

Oxygen and the air pressure are always being monitored. In the event of a decompression, an oxygen mask will automatically appear in front of you. To start the flow of oxygen, pull the mask towards you. Place it firmly over your nose and mouth, secure the elastic band behind your head, and breathe normally. Although the bag does not inflate, oxygen is flowing to the mask. If you are travelling with a child or someone who requires assistance, secure your mask on first, and then assist the other person. Keep your mask on until a uniformed crew member advises you to remove it.

In the event of an emergency, please assume the bracing position. (Lean forward with your hands on top of your head and your elbows against your thighs. Ensure your feet are flat on the floor.) A life vest is located in a pouch under your seat or between the armrests. When instructed to do so, open the plastic pouch and remove the vest. Slip it over your head. Pass the straps around your waist and adjust at the front. To inflate the vest, pull firmly on the red cord, only when leaving the aircraft. If you need to refill the vest, blow into the mouthpieces. Use the whistle and light to attract attention. (Also, your seat bottom cushion can be used as a flotation device. Pull the cushion from the seat, slip your arms into the straps, and hug the cushion to your chest.)

The following electronic devices (calculators, CD players, laptop computers) may be used when the seat belt sign is off, or when permitted by your crew. Cellular/mobile telephones, remote-controlled toys or any electronic device operating with an antenna must be turned off at all times. We remind you that this is a non-smoking flight. Tampering with, disabling, or destroying the smoke detectors located in the lavatories is prohibited by law. You will find this and all the other safety information in the card located in the seat pocket in front of you. We strongly suggest you read it before take-off. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our crew members. We wish you all an enjoyable flight.”

Take-off/ascent

Usually, the Captain will make a small briefing before take-off, sometimes indicating the priority for take-off (e.g. “We are third in priority for take-off, we should depart in about five minutes”). But there is always an announcement like:

Within a minute after take-off, an announcement may be made reminding passengers to keep their seat belts fastened. After passing above clouds or turbulence, the Captain will turn off the Fasten Seat Belt sign, but usually, the aircraft is still climbing to its cruising altitude. The flight attendants will then invite the passengers to release their seat belts if needed.

Turbulence

Occasionally, turbulence may occur during a flight. The seat belt sign will turn on and, in case of moderate to severe turbulence ahead, the flight crew will make a brief announcement. “Flight attendants/Cabin crew, please be seated.”

Shortly after the seat belt sign illuminates, this announcement will be made. “Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned on the fasten seat belt sign. We are now crossing a zone of turbulence. Please return your seats and keep your seat belts fastened. Thank you.

Descent/final

Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure your seat backsand tray tables are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Please turn off all electronic devices until we are safely parked at the gate. Thank you.

Flight attendants, prepare for landing please.
Cabin crew, please take your seats for landing.

It is immediately followed by an announcement by a flight attendant.

Landing

After touchdown, and as the aircraft is turning off the active runway and taxiing to the gate, the flight attendant will do one last announcement.
